Orlando Pirates striker Kwame Peprah believes he is deserving of a call-up to the Ghana national team following his breakout season in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
Peprah was nominated for the PSL Young Player of the Season award in his maiden season in the South African top-flight, scoring seven goals in 25 appearance – and he is still just 21.
However, the dynamic front-man was overlooked for Ghananian head coach Otto Addo’s 33-man squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Peprah does not agree with the decision as he feels he is worthy of a call up.
“Every Ghanaian player’s dream is to join the national team, to work and to support and be able to support his country. Considering my former performances with King Faisal and also this season at Orlando Pirates, I think I have done enough to be handed a call-up,” he told JoySports.
“As the type of striker that I am, I can play on the left-wing, the right-wing and also as the centre-forward. My aerial duels are very good – that I can say. I think deserving a call-up is not a bad idea.”
The former King Faisal forward added, “The current players in the [Black Stars] camp all also deserve the call-up so I wish them all the best of luck in the coming games.”
