Magesi coach Clinton Larsen is delighted to have brought Papi Zothwane into the Betway Premiership club as an assistant coach.
The former Uthongathi and Polokwane City manager was snapped up by Magesi following their promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Championship as champions.
A former Maritzburg United, Golden Arrows, Bloemfontein Celtic, and Mamelodi Sundowns player, Zothwane joins a technical team that includes Larsen and Jackie Ledwaba.
Larsen knows Zothwane well from their time together at Golden Arrows, where Zothwane served as Arrows reserve coach.
Larsen said on FARPost: “I know Papi’s entire football journey from being a player to working with me. He worked under me before, but many may not know. He worked as one of the DDC coaches when I was still with Golden Arrows.
“He knows me very well. He also coached Uthongathi FC in the National First Division. You know he was with Polokwane City in the Motsepe Foundation Championship League. I think he has earned his stripes in the NFD (National First Division).
“I think it’s time for him to step up in the big league now. I admire his coaching philosophy in terms of the way we want the team to play.”
Larsen added: “He is going to be a very good addition to the club. I also can’t wait to pick his brain because I want thinkers around me and people who can also challenge me from a tactical perspective, and I totally believe Papi brings all that.”
