Oswin Appollis has expressed his gratitude to Bafana boss Hugo Broos for ‘giving him the opportunity” to represent his country.
The 23-year-old Polokwane City winger made his Bafana debut in the World Cup qualifying loss to Rwanda last year.
He was a part of the Africa Cup of Nations squad that finished in third place in 2023, although he only played in a third-place play-off win over DR Congo.
He has since been a regular in the Bafana fold and played a significant role as South Africa secured their place in the 2025 AFCON with two games to spare.
Speaking after the 3-0 win over South Sudan in Cape Town on Tuesday, Man-of-the-Match Appollis lauded the work done by Belgian Broos.
He told SABC Sport: “I have to thank coach Hugo for giving me the opportunity.
“For that I will always be proud. I just want to also thank the boys for today, everyone fought, and the fans also played a big part.
“It is all about unity, at training the boys work together. We are group, no one takes sides. We always stick together, that is what makes us a good team.”
