ORLANDO PIRATES PART WAYS WITH CAMEROON STRIKER SOUAIBOU MAROU

Orlando Pirates have announced the release of Cameroon striker Souaibou Marou.

The 23-year-old Marou made just nine appearances for the Nedbank Cup champions since joining them from Coton Sport FC in January 2023. He played in seven DStv Premiership matches (all as a substitute) and two CAF Champions League games (one start and one as a substitute), but did not score any goals or provide any assists.

Pirates announced via a club statement that Marou is now a free agent and eager to join a club of his choice. He was still under contract with the club until June 2025.

“Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm the departure of forward Souaibou Marou,” the club statement read.

“The Cameroonian, who joined us at the beginning of the season, is free to join a club of his choice.

“We would like to wish Souaibou all the best in his future endeavours.”

The Cameroonian international was a member of the Indomitable Lions’ World Cup squad in Qatar in 2022. He has been capped three times by the national team, scoring one goal.
