Nigeria and Orlando Pirates central defender Olisah Ndah believes the healthy competition in the Super Eagles squad is beneficial to the team.
The 26-year-old centre-back was recently called up for Nigeria’s AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda, marking his return to the squad for the first time since 2022.
Ndah made his appearance in the 63rd minute at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo yesterday evening, coming on as a substitute for Calvin Bassey. His contribution was part of Augustin Eguavoen’s side’s 3-0 victory over the Cheetahs of Benin Republic.
Commenting on the team’s quality, the former Rivers United player acknowledged Nigeria’s depth and welcomed the competition.
“I think it is a healthy competition and there’s a lot of great players in the team. No matter who starts, I think we’re committed to the team. It is a good reception and there are a lot of great guys here. I am enjoying my moments here. I am also in Uyo, so I feel at home because I have been here for a couple of years before,” Ndah said, as reported by Goal.
A potential move to Europe may also be on the horizon for the former NPFL player, with Italian side Sassuolo showing interest in the Orlando Pirates defender.
Since his move to South Africa, Ndah has won the MTN 8 League Cup twice with his club side.
