New Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic says it was an easy decision to join the Glamour Boys as they are ‘the best club in Africa’.
Serbian frontman Nurkovic joined from Slovakian side FK Pohronie and made his debut as a second-half substitute in the 2-0 Carling Black Label Cup defeat to Orlando Pirates on Saturday.
And the 27-year-old has revealed that he rejected offers from Saudi Arabia and Morocco to join the Glamour Boys.
“It was agent from Croatia, but honestly I was waiting for a good offer because I have amazing season behind me, not one but two,” the big striker says.
“I was waiting for good offers and there were good offers from Morocco and from Saudi Arabia. I was waiting and I told myself that something good is going to come, and then this agent called me and told me that one club from South Africa is interested in me.
“When I found out that it’s Kaizer Chiefs I was happy, I was really happy. It’s the best club in Africa. I did not know a lot about South African football, but I knew Kaizer Chiefs.
“I heard about South Africa for the first time during the 2010 World Cup when Serbia was here and I saw a lot of good stadiums.”
