Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo has stressed the importance of the pre-season training that is currently underway in Turkey under new Boss Nasreddine Nabi and his new technical team.
Chiefs restructured their technical team following an underwhelming 2023/2024 season which saw them finish without a trophy and occupy the tenth position on the log standings under Arthur Zwane, Molefi Ntseki and the recently departed Cavin Johnson.
The Soweto giants’ determination to reclaim their past dominance saw them jetting off to Turkey to prepare for the upcoming 2024/2025 season and put an end to the decade-long trophy drought.
The 24-year-old midfielder said the camp has assisted the team in getting to know each other better and forming good friendships which will be crucial during the course of the season.
“The mood with the other players, I think it’s great, we are forming a good friendship, everyone is happy to be here, we are enjoying ourselves, and I think this camp is very important and it’s going to help us going forward,” he said while speaking to SuperSport.
Ngcobo commended the Amakhosi management for including the young players on the trip adding that they have been working hard proving that they have a lot to offer for the club in the seasons to come.
“I would call it, I think, that’s the purpose of the camp, we learn new things, so I think it’s new techniques, and the team spirit from them, you can see, they are with us and they are pushing us every training session, so yeah.
“Also, for the younger players to be part of this trip, you can see that they are very hyped up, they are working hard, they are making sure that they impress and they want to do things the right way, so I’m happy for them that they are here, and I think they have so much to offer also, they are going to help the team, they are going to help us as a group,” Ngcobo concluded.
Amakhosi were impressive in their 5-2 thrashing of Qatari side Al Shahaniya in a friendly match and will get a chance to display the outcomes of their pre-season training in front of the home fans when they battle Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC at the Toyota Stadium on Sunday 28 July at 15:00.
The club is also expected to unveil their new signings prior to the Sunday match including former TS Galaxy goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, Defender Rushwin Dortley from Cape Town Spurs and former Orlando Pirates defender Bongani Sam.
