Stanley Nwabali has been warned not to return to Chippa United following his heroics for Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Chippa United goalkeeper denied South Africa a final place after saving two penalties in their semi-final tie after the match had ended 1-1 at full-time.
The Super Eagles ultimately went on to lose in the final 2-1 to tournament hosts Ivory Coast as Bafana Bafana claimed third place with a penalty shootout win over the DR Congo.
Nwabali is set to make his return to the Chilli Boys, where he is unlikely to have any concerns, but former Vice President of CAF Appeal Committee Amanze Uchegbulam is worried for the star.
He told Nation Online: “The feelers I’m getting from South Africa regarding Nwabali is not encouraging and I want to advise that he should not go back to Chippa United after the AFCON.
“Some would say it was just football but the signals I’m getting from South Africa about Nwabali is not so positive.
“If possible, he can forget going back to Chippa United and train with any of our top clubs either Enyimba United or Rivers United before he can find a new club.
“That’s my honest advice and I hope he takes it.”
