NFF DISMISSES VICTOR OSIMHEN SUSPENSION RUMOURS

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has slammed online rumours claiming they banned star striker Victor Osimhen from the national team.

In a statement released Thursday, NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi expressed surprise at the reports.

He clarified that the federation has not initiated any disciplinary proceedings against Osimhen, nor has any ban been issued.

“The NFF hereby implores the media to join hands with the body to positively resolve issues and then focus on the big picture all the time, rather than needlessly escalate certain matters,” said Sanusi.

“There was no official communication from the NFF, yet some persons have gone to town to talk about a ban on Osimhen from the National Team. This is not good at all.”

Sanusi emphasised that the NFF’s current focus is ensuring the Super Eagles’ success in the upcoming qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

These rumours stem from a recent social media outburst by Osimhen directed towards former head coach Finidi George, shortly after George’s resignation.
