NEWS: “Yes, I know they [Chiefs] wanted me” – Aziz Ki reveals Kazier Chiefs Interest

Yanga SC and Burkina Faso forward, Stephane Aziz Ki, has revealed that Kaizer Chiefs expressed interest in signing him before he moved to Tanzania.

The 28-year-old was reportedly offered to Amakhosi while playing for Asec Mimosas in 2022, but the deal fell through as he opted to join Nasreddine Nabi’s Yanga SC.

Since his move, Aziz Ki has excelled in the Tanzanian league, finishing as the top scorer with 21 goals last season. He also clinched the coveted Player of the Season and Midfielder of the Season awards.

During an interview with iDiski Times, Aziz Ki confirmed the Chief’s interest and explained that Yanga’s approach, including a visit to his family by the club president, played a crucial role in his decision to join the Tanzanian giants.

Yes, I know they [Chiefs] wanted me,”

“But when someone comes and shows you this respect because the President of Yanga came to see me when I was playing against RS Berkane in Morocco.

“After that, they came to my family and spoke to me in front of my family, my mother; that was already too much for me, that was special.

“This showed me their seriousness; they came all the way from Dar es Salaam to my family, not just call and say, ‘Aziz, we’ve got an offer for you’.

I appreciated and trusted this project and the way it came also; I was ready to come and join them.”
