Bafetimbi Gomis could yet be on his way to Newcastle after the Magpies re-opened transfer talks with Lyon’s French striker.
Gomis was a target for Newcastle boss Alan Pardew earlier in the transfer window but the negotiations went cold and the Magpies eventually took QPR striker Loic Remy on loan instead.
However, with a calf injury meaning Remy has yet to play, and Pardew’s men without a goal after two Premier League games, the St James’ Park hierarchy have gone back to Gomis.
