Just 8 teams remain as things start to get heated in the Nedbank Cup with Chiefs playing SuperSport.

The Quarter-Finals of the Nedbank Cup will take place this weekend with some cracking matches lined up, with the highlight fixture being between Kaizer Chiefs and title-holders SuperSport United.

Saturday 22 April

11/10 Golden Arrows | Draw 22/10 | Platinum Stars 24/10 (15:00)

Golden Arrows will be high on confidence after eliminating Mamelodi Sundowns, beating the African champions 1-0 thanks to a superb goal from Nduduzo Sibiya. In the last 32, the Backheel Boys thumped Maritzburg United 3-1 in the KwaZulu-Natal Derby. Platinum Stars edged Baroka 1-0 in their last-16 clash before a thrilling 3-2 win over AmaZulu. Despite Cavin Johnson’s team completing the league double over Arrows this season, Clinton Larsen’s side are four places higher than Stars in the table. Arrows are tipped to get the better of Dikwena in the cup.

8/10 Chippa United | 23/10 | Jomo Cosmos 33/10 (15:00)

Chippa United are in the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup for the first time in their history. Dan Malesela’s side come off a 2-0 win over Polokwane City thanks to goals from Buyani Sali and Andile Mbenyane. In the last 32, the Chilli Boys recorded a 1-0 victory over Witbank Spurs. Jomo Cosmos remain to be the only team from the lower divisions in this cup race after beating Bidvest Wits on penalties in the last 16. Jomo Sono will hope to inspire his side to another victory against Chippa but I can’t see that happening this time. The Chilli Boys beat Cosmos 2-1 in the ABSA Premiership last year and I’m backing them to come out on top once again.

15/20 Kaizer Chiefs | 23/10 | SuperSport United 15/4 (18:00)

Kaizer Chiefs, who are riding a four-match winning streak, produced a hard fought 2-1 win against Acornbush United before comfortably beating Stellenbosch to get to this stage. SuperSport United will be looking to continue their quest of defending their cup title. Stuart Baxter’s side beat ABC Motsepe league side, Kwadukaza United 2-0 following a 2-1 win against Royal Eagles. Amakhosi will be hoping for a repeat of the 2013 Nedbank Cup final when they defeated Matsatsantsa 1-0 at Moses Mabhida Stadium. Steve Komphela’s side have won five of their last seven meetings against SuperSport, losing only once. I’m backing the Glamour Boys to kick out the holders in 90 minutes.

7/10 Orlando Pirates | 23/10 | Bloemfontein Celtic 4/1 (20:30)

Two-time Nedbank Cup winners Orlando Pirates recorded emphatic victories over EC Bees and Free State Stars, while Bloem Celtic saw off Buya Msuthu and Mbombela United to reach this stage. Coach Kjell Jonevret will be desperate to win this tournament and give the Bucs fans something to cheer about in what has been a disastrous season. Pirates, who are unbeaten in three matches, will also want to avenge their 2-1 defeat against Celtic in December. The Bucs have improved in recent weeks and should have little difficulty seeing off Celtic.

QUAD @10/1

Golden Arrows Win 11/10

Chippa Utd Win 8/10

Kaizer Chiefs Win 15/20

Pirates Win 7/10
