NASREDDINE NABI PROMISES TO REWARD THE KAIZER CHIEFS FAITHFUL WITH A GREAT SEASON FOLLOWING A WARM WELCOME

Nasreddine Nabi has vowed to ‘do his best’ to ‘reward’ Kaizer Chiefs with a “great season”.

The new Amakhosi coach and his technical team have been getting to know their players.

They joined the team for a pre-season tour of Turkey for a number of friendly games but have since returned to South Africa.

Speaking at his first official press conference, since taking up the head coach role, Nabi expressed his happiness at a successful tour, while thanking club bosses for allowing him the chance to take the reins of such a prestigious club.

Nabi said: “I would like to thank the owner of the club, Mr Kaizer Motaung, Jessica, Khemiso, Mr Bobby and Kaizer Jr for their warm welcome.

“I’d also like to thank all Kaizer Chiefs fans for their warm welcome at the airport and I’ll do my best to reward them for the warm welcome with a great season this year.

“I would like to thank Mr Kaizer Jr. for allowing us to travel to Turkiye for the camp.

“It was very successful, it was also very important to get away from Johannesburg, from the pressure, especially after the way the season ended.

“It was also important for the new staff to meet the players and adjust together. It was very successful.

“We played a few games against several teams in Turkiye. The games weren’t to ease expectations, however, as the time goes in this month, the pace will pick up and it will be what I want out it.”

Chiefs are next in action against Tanzanian champions Young Africans in the inaugural Toyota Cup on Sunday.

They kick off their season with a league game against Marumo Gallants on 14 September.
