Nasreddine Nabi lauds Pule Mmodi’s progress

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi was full of praise for Pule Mmodi following the 3-0 Nedbank Cup last 16 win over Chippa United on Saturday.

Gaston Sirino opened the scoring at the FNB Stadium on 13 minutes. Inacio Miguel added a 77th minute penalty before Mmodi sealed the result with his goal a minute from time.

Reeve Frosler scooped the Man-of-the-Match Award, but Nabi insisted that Mmodi’s performance was crucial to the result, as he also won the penalty for Miguel.

Nabi said on SuperSport after the game: “What Mmodi does on the field is incredible.

“Maybe he could have scored earlier, he had opportunities, but for me he was the best player on the field.

“He works consistently, he poses a threat directly to the opponent all the time. You could see all the set pieces he won for us. He gets back all the time, he works incredibly for the team.”

Nabi added that Mmodi has the experience to guide the younger players in the Chiefs’ team.

“It is a good thing for a young player, a normal situation to have such experienced players play with them,” he explained.

“It is going to push them to work harder and get to that level, instead of thinking it is going to come to them easily.”
