Black Leopards have announced the appointment of experienced coach Zeca Marques as their new head coach.
The 63-year-old Portuguese-born coach replaces Maxwell Konadu, who was sacked after the team’s loss to Leruma United over the weekend.
Marques, who has a rich coaching history in South Africa, will take over a Black Leopards side currently sitting 10th in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with 23 points from 17 matches.
This is not Marques’ first stint with Black Leopards, having previously coached the team from January to June 2015. He has also had two successful spells as head coach of Moroka Swallows, leading the team to the MTN8 title in the 2012/13 season. His most recent coaching job was with Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) in Limpopo, where he coached for three months during the 2021/22 season.
Marques’ first game in charge of Black Leopards will be against Cape Town Spurs, coached by Ernst Middendorp, at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday at 15:30. The match promises to be an exciting encounter, and Marques will be looking to make a positive impact on his new team.
