According to the figures, Chiefs have released as many as 44 players in the last three years as they try to break their trophy drought.

While they look for solutions on the field, Motaung says players come to the club highly recommended but then fail to make the grade.

Motaung explained on the Kaizer Chiefs website: “Look, at times players come here at the back of good performances and highly recommended.

“However, with all intents and purposes, some players fail to make the expected grade and some, with their immense talent, can’t adapt to our demanding set-up.

“Pressure comes in different forms; it can be competition or simply the overwhelming pressure that comes with the jersey and the badge.”

Following a disastrous campaign last season when they came in ninth place, Amakhosi have made a good start this time round as they have taken 10 points from their first four matches to sit on top of the table.

Their next game in the Absa Premiership will be against Polokwane City at the FNB Stadium on 14 September.
