Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane says its thanks to their CAF Champions League experience that saw them reach the semi-finals for the third consecutive year.
On Saturday, the Egyptian Giants drew 1-1 with Raja Casablanca in Morocco to claim a 3-2 aggregate win which is the fifth time that Mosimane has reached the semi-final stage. Ahly won the first-leg 2-1 in Egypt.
Following his sides win, Mosimane praised his sides big match temperament despite them missing two penalties over the two legs.
“We have proven today that we know how to play the CAF Champions League matches. We wasted a penalty in Cairo and another in Casablanca, so there is no question about our abilities.
Until the last minute, we were the best and close to winning if it weren’t for Mohamed Sherif’s wasted chance,” Mosimane told journalists.
“We need to improve the finishing touch, yet we are confident in our ability to go forward. It was a tough game. We respected Raja very much, and we were the best throughout the two games,” he said.
Al Ahly will next be up against ES Setif in the semifinals while the other match will see Petro De Luanda and Wydad Casablanca face-off.
