Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mosa Lebusa says he wants to “experience the feeling of winning the Champions League”.
The 29-year-old has played just 15 games in all competitions this season having seen his campaign disrupted by injury.
But he is now just weeks away from making a return and is hoping to be able aid the Brazilians’ cause, especially in the CAF Champions League.
Up next for his side is a clash away to Sudanese side Al-Merrikh at the weekend, and although this match probably comes too soon for the eager Lebusa, he is nonetheless determined to play a part in his side’s already dominant season.
Sundowns have already lifted the MTN8 and are runaway leaders in the DStv Premiership. They also face ABC Motsepe side Mathaithai FC in the Nedbank Cup last 16.
Lebusa told Soccer Laduma: “Everything is possible in football, but we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves. We are focusing on every single game.
“If we have a league game, we have to make sure we get the points to edge closer to win the winning the championship.
“After that, it’s the Champions League, which is a different ball game. There’s the Nedbank Cup, so there’s so many games that we have to focus on and we have to switch on and have different approaches. if there is anyone who can do, chances are everyone would choose us to do it, but it won’t be easy. We have to stay hungry.”
Lebusa added: “It would mean a lot for Sundowns. For example, I want to experience the feeling of winning the Champions League. I don’t know how it feels. I have tasted the championship and all three times they felt different. Each time it was like a new feeling and I want to keep on winning and experience that all the time.”
Sundowns claimed the CAF Champions League for their first and only time under former boss Pitso Mosimane in 2016.
