The Buccaneers looked set to claim a timely victory at Baroka FC on Saturday as they led 2-0 thanks to Linda Mntambo and Kabelo Dlamini’s goals either side of the half-time break.

However, they let their concentration slip towards the end of the game and conceded twice in the space of eight minutes to draw 2-2.

Mokwena has come under fire from some Pirates supporters who feel it is time for the young coach to be replaced at the helm, but he insists it doesn’t faze him and that the team will keep fighting.

“I don’t control that. I can’t speak about the fans. I speak about what we can do,” Mokwena told the media.

“What we can do is try our best all the time. The Pirates fans know one thing about us, we give our best for the badge. We fight for the badge.”

He added: “When you’re leading 2-0 it feels like a loss. We give good games, we give games with a lot of goals and a good spectacle so hopefully, the crowd enjoyed the spectacle.”

The Soweto giants are sixth in the Absa Premiership standings, seven points below the top two, having won only four of their 13 league games this season.
