Mngqithi taunts Chiefs after FNB victory

Mamelodi Sundowns manager Manqoba Mngqithi couldn’t resist a playful jab at Kaizer Chiefs following his team’s 2-1 win at a packed FNB Stadium.

Mngqithi maintained his flawless start to the 2024/25 league season, defeating Amakhosi 2-1 at the packed FNB Stadium to reclaim the top spot on the log.

Ranga Chivaviro opened the scoring before Lucas Ribeiro and Iqraam Rayners turned the game around before halftime.

Amakhosi thought they had equalized at 2-2 in the fourth minute of injury time, but the referee disallowed the goal, leaving Mngqithi in a mischievous mood during the post-match comments.

“Thanks to our supporters who came in numbers to support us,” he said on SuperSport TV.

Unfortunate for the Chiefs fans, but they came in numbers, we appreciate that.

“Even if they didn’t get the result, but at least they had the crowd and they’re also going home with some nice flags, I like those flags. Thank you.”

Sundowns are back in league action on 27 October when they will face Polokwane City away from home.
