Mngqithi: It’s the right moment to say thank you

Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi paid tribute to his side following the conclusion of their championship winning season.

Sundowns ended their campaign with a 3-2 victory over Royal AM having been crowned champions some weeks back.
Gaston Sirino opened the scoring at TUKS Stadium on Monday on 13 minutes ahead of a 48th minute Thabiso Kutumela strike, while Peter Shalulile seemingly put the game beyond doubt when he netted just past the hour mark.
Sepana Letsoalo (69′) and Mokete Mogaila (76′) were both on target for the hosts in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat.
Sundowns had succumbed to a 3-0 loss to Stellenbosch in their penultimate DStv Premiership match, but were determined to go out on a high note, ahead of their Nedbank Cup final against Marumo Gallants next weekend.
After the game, Mngqithi told SuperSport: “I think the boys have done very well but I think this is the day where we need to thank everyone involved in the club, I think it is the right moment to thank the President and the Chairman of the club, the board of the club for the support they have given us throughout the season.

“To also thank the administrative staff in making sure that everything that we needed was always provided timeously. We had a very bad breakout now of flu and they were there to support us.

“And to make sure we get the right medication at the 11th hour and to thank the yellow nation. These guys have supported us even when they could not come to the stadium they were there.

“And last but not least, to thank my fellow technical members for everything that they have done for team in making sure they support us and to thank the rest of the squad and the support staff, the kitchen staff, the groundsmen and everyone that helps us.

“The security at the gate and everyone involved at the club. I think it’s the right moment for me to say thank you very much.”
