Xola Mlambo has praised Pirates team-mate Ben Motshwari’s ability to play a number of different roles in midfield.
Motshwari got his first goal in Pirates colours after joining the team in the off-season when he netted the final goal in the 3-1 win over SuperSport last Saturday.
Mlambo, who has been in outstanding form himself in the Pirates engine room, knows Motshwari well as the pair were previously together at Bidvest Wits, even if they did not regularly feature together.
“At Bidvest Wits we hardly played together, it was here and there,” Mlambo told KickOff.
“But Ben is one quality player that works hard, he grinds. If you want him to go forward he does, if you want him to cover distances he does.
“He is capable of doing most things that midfielders do – he can attack, defend, he can play.
“You learn a lot from him as well,” Mlambo continued. “But to be honest we just have to take the Bidvest Wits thing out of us because the philosophy is different – Pirates and Wits are two different teams.”
Mlambo and Motshwari will both be hoping to feature when Bucs host Cape Town City in a league match at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday 19 September.
