Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp says his players focused on improving the attacking side of their game after the defeat to Maritzburg United.
Amakhosi were eliminated from the Telkom Knockout by the Team of Choice on 24 November, but bounced back in style with a 4-0 drubbing of Stellenbosch in the Absa Premiership.
Middendorp has revealed that his team worked hard on their movement and passing in the final third following the Maritzburg clash and it seemed to pay off nicely in the end.
“We regrouped immediately after the [Maritzburg] game on Sunday,” Middendorp stated on the club’s official website.
“We went on to deal with forward movements and our passing game. Moving and passing form part of a successful game.
“Tactically, we’ve recently seen opponents close us down quickly. We’ve had to work on the players that would take on opponents in one-on-one situations.”
He added: “Our set-piece work is one of our strong points. We go into set-pieces with intensity. We have all the ingredients to be successful in set-pieces. It’s a crucial element in modern football.
“Football is quite easy. Don’t concede and contribute to scoring. We play with passion and energy, and that’s what we need.”
The league leaders will host Bloemfontein Celtic in the Absa Premiership on Saturday, 7 December.
