Micho: ‘The masterpiece is in how we pull ourselves up’

Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic
Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic has called on his side to show him a response as they look to bounce back from a disappointing defeat to SuperSport United.

The Buccaneers came agonisingly close to securing a draw with Matsatsantsa, but Happy Jele saw his 75th-minute penalty kept out by Ronwen Williams and Justin Shonga firing over from the rebound.

Despite the defeat, Pirates remain within touching distance of Sundowns and Wits in the Premiership standings, although the fourth-placed SuperSport are now trailing Sredojevic’s side by just one point.

“First of all, we’re not thinking about anyone else except ourselves. We prepared ourselves very well and knew that one moment of brilliance could decide the game,” he is quoted as saying by KickOff.

“Our first half was not good enough because we had so many turnovers, when we were supposed to keep the ball under easy circumstances.

“However, when we lost the ball, we allowed the opponents to counter-attack, but at half-time we corrected that and decided to go with more possession and take better care of the ball.

“We also looked to be more adventurous in going towards the opponent’s goal, and that penalty, which we unfortunately missed, was supposed to be the turning point in the game.

“In the end we lost the game, which is a set-back for us, but now the masterpiece is in how we pull ourselves up, forgetting this match and thinking about AmaZulu on Saturday.”
