Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy has heaped praise on Orlando Pirates’ Tshegofatso Mabasa, saying the striker reminds him of himself in his playing days.
Mabasa has been a shining light in an otherwise dim season for Pirates, scoring four goals since joining from Bloemfontein Celtic in the off-season.
And McCarthy believes the Buccanneers have found a gem in Mabasa.
“Pirates have found themselves a crown jewel. They have got a guy who is hungry, he wants to score, he is powerful,” McCarthy said as quoted by KickOff.
“He reminds me of myself a lot because I used to like it with defenders tight on me. He is clinical in front of goal. As good as he has been on form, he is also scoring.
“It’s good for South African football.”
