Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Lucky Maselesele has accused Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane of sour grapes after he claimed Chiefs ‘always get penalties’.
Mosimane made the claim after his side’s 2-1 victory over Black Leopards on Wednesday evening when his side were denied what appeared to be a clear penalty for handball.
The Glamour Boys had some controversial decisions go their way in their 2-0 victory over AmaZulu and while Maselese admitted this was the case, he feels luck evens itself over time.
“Well I’m going to be honest, I’m watching from outside as a former player, I was watching that match against AmaZulu FC, like I feel those two goals for Usuthu were legit,” Maselesele said.
“If you are watching from television boss, those were not offside. Chiefs were outplayed on the day.
“Sometimes in football you need luck. Even big players and teams like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Barcelona, Juventus and Inter Milan they always have luck. Even us at Kaizer Chiefs when we won everything in 2001 we were playing well but had luck. When you win matches you attract luck, it comes naturally, it follows you, so this Chiefs at the moment everything is on their side.
“Pitso Mosimane must just accept, when Mamelodi Sundowns was winning 16 games in a row it was also because of luck. Yes, they are superior and have a big squad but luck was on their side, there were matches where you could think referees are on their side.
“Pitso was wrong to drag Chiefs, yes we have to listen to him during post-match interviews shining there, yes we have to hail and praise him, don’t get me wrong, I respect and like him for what he has achieved in South Africa, the best coach at the moment with the best squad, best budget.
“But like obviously he must be considerate, I think for him as a big professional as he is, he was supposed to respect other teams. Also remember Mamelodi Sundowns is not the only team in Premier Soccer League.”
