Marumo Gallants have swiftly replaced Dylan Kerr with Dan Malesela as their new head coach. Kerr’s short-lived tenure, which began just three weeks ago, ended abruptly on Tuesday due to disagreements over the club’s coaching structure and player recruitment.
The former Black Leopards coach reportedly objected to a proposed co-coaching setup and the club’s decision to sign players without his input. In an interview with Andile Ncube on Sports Night Amplified, Kerr said, “I didn’t know Dan was going to be appointed the coach until just recently. There was a text message, an SMS from the chairman and I called him straight away and said chairman I can’t do this and that’s why I left”.
Malesela, a familiar face at Gallants, returns for his third stint as the club’s head coach. His appointment comes as the club seeks to strengthen its technical team and finalize its squad for the upcoming PSL season.
Gallants have indicated that further announcements regarding new signings and additional coaching staff members will be made in the near future.
