The Absa Premiership has seen coaches come and go regularly in recent times as the competition for employment in the league increases, but Mapeza says he accepts that poor results will most likely see him ushered towards the exit as well.

“I’m tired of answering questions about what happened to the club in terms of coaches, I’m here to coach,” he said.

“If results don’t come it’s normal for coaches to get fired, nobody should stay in a coaching job if there’s no result. So I’m one of those. if there’s no results I won’t be shocked it I were to be fired, it’s normal.”

Mapeza himself has come under scrutiny of late as Chippa have struggled to find positive results and sit bottom of the league standings. They did, however, claim their first win on 9 November when they beat AmaZulu 2-0 and Mapeza hopes it will inspire them to keep winning.

He added: “Sometimes in football you need luck. In our last few matches we didn’t have luck. The boys have been delivering and they finally got rewarded, we can just hope this win will boost their confidence going forward.”
