MAMELODI SUNDOWNS TO BATTLE SUPERSPORT UNITED IN TSHWANE DERBY

Lucas Ribeiro scored a hat-trick as Mamelodi Sundowns continued their march towards another PSL title with a 3-0 victory over Amazulu at Loftus Versfeld.

SuperSport United will be looking to upset Mamelodi Sundowns in the Tshwane Derby in DStv Premiership action at Loftus Versfeld on Tuesday night.

SuperSport are still looking for their first three points of the year. As a result of their winless streak, Gavin Hunt’s side have slipped down the standings from second to fourth.

Hunt’s charges played to a 1-1 draw with AmaZulu in Polokwane on the weekend. Victor Letsoala gave Usuthu the lead and Lyle Lakay equalised for Matsatsantsa.

SuperSport will be buoyed by the fact that they are the last team to have beaten Sundowns in the league – that was back in September 2022.

Meanwhile, Sundowns produced another dominant performance by sweeping aside Chippa United at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday with Teboho Mokoena and Tashreeq Matthews getting on the scoresheet.

The Brazilians have a 12-point lead at the top of the table with three games in hand over second-placed Orlando Pirates. Rhulani Mokwena’s side have not lost in the league all season and have conceded just four goals.

In the first round meeting Sundowns beat SuperSport 2-0 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium four months ago.
