Mamelodi Sundowns has announced the dates, venues, and kick-off times for their November fixtures.
The Pretoria-based team capped off their Carling Knockout Cup semifinals campaign with an impressive 2-0 victory over Marumo Gallants on November 10, just before the international break brought domestic football to a halt.
They are set to return to action with a high-stakes showdown against giant-killers Magesi FC in the Carling Knockout Cup final, scheduled for Saturday, November 23, at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.
A surprising 1-0 defeat to Polokwane City earlier served as a wake-up call for Manqoba Mngqithi’s side, who have since bounced back with three dominant wins, scoring nine goals and keeping clean sheets in all three matches.
Three days after the final, Sundowns will begin their CAF Champions League group stage campaign by hosting AS Maniema Union from the Democratic Republic of Congo on November 26 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
Masandawana, placed in Group B, will face stiff competition from Moroccan clubs AS FAR and Raja Casablanca. They are determined to improve on last season’s semifinal exit, where they were eliminated by Tunisian side ES Tunis after consecutive 1-0 defeats.
The 14-time league champions will also continue their quest for an eighth consecutive league title, taking on Sekhukhune United at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on November 30. This match will mark the end of their November fixtures.
A victory is crucial for the Yellow Nation as they aim to close the three-point gap with current log leaders Orlando Pirates. Sundowns currently sit second in the league with 18 points, having won six and lost one of their first seven matches.
