Makhubedu: The point was enough for us

Sekhukhune United head coach MacDonald Makhubedu is delighted that his side have reached the mark of 32 points to secure their DStv Premiership status for next season.

Sekhukhune have performed admirably in their first season in the top-flight. They may have fallen off the pace after a blistering start to the season, which saw them in the top four for quite some time, but they have fulfilled their number one priority, which was to avoid relegation.

This, after claiming their 32nd point in a goalless draw with AmaZulu on Saturday. And Makhubedu was satisfied with his side’s performance after the final whistle.

“I think we played well, we executed the game plan well. We wanted the win, of course, but a point was enough for us,” The Babina Noko boss said.

“We played against a team that is on form, they’re doing well at the moment and are very strong defensively. They had not conceded a goal before playing us so we knew what we were going to come up against.

“We wanted to get a goal or two because we knew they defend well as a unit, they are aware and compact and they have good fullbacks. We had to make sure they don’t score because they don’t concede easily.”

Sekhukhune play Kaizer Chiefs and Marumo Gallants FC in their last two fixtures of the season.
