Mike Makaab says Bernard Parker is keen to remain with Kaizer Chiefs in a coaching capacity after being released from his playing contract.
Amakhosi signalled a major overhaul of their squad with the release of 10 players including Dumsani Zuma, Daniel Akpeyi, Lebogang Manyama, Kearyn Baccus, Samir Nurkovic, Leonardo Castro, Lazalous Kambole, Daniel Cardoso, Anthony Akumu Agay and Parker, as well as goalkeeper coach Lee Baxter.
Parker, 36, made over 350 appearances for Chiefs during his 11 years with the club and isn’t in a rush to end his association.
Makaab told Gagasi FM: “He’s played for the jersey and for the badge.
“He is in love with Kaizer Chiefs, and he loves the football club. We’ve had a lot of discussions, Bernard would deeply love to stay involved with the club in some capacity.
“Ultimately, he wants to do his coaching licenses and eventually get to the top license that you can get, which is the UEFA Pro license, and we are busy embarking on that.
“He’s got qualifications in sports psychology and sports management, and Bernard is well set up for the rest of his life.”
