Thembinkosi Lorch was delighted with his contribution as Orlando Pirates saw off Martizburg United 4-1 on Tuesday.
Lorch opened the scoring at the Orlando Stadium on 21 minutes ahead of goals from Kwame Peprah (42′), Deon Hotto (60′) and Kabelo Dlamini (69′), with only Friday Samu (63′) netting for the Team of Choice.
The result meant that Bucs remained on course for a second-placed finish, presuming they win their final two games of the season, against Royal AM and SuperSport United.
Lorch was named Man of the match for his display and told SuperSport after the match: “It wasn’t an easy game, you can see our bodies were tired, but we kept on pushing. I am happy that we won and we scored many goals because we are going to need them.”
The winger added: “The focus now is KZN’s Royal AM, it’s going to be a difficult game, so we have to prepare ourselves. It was important to boost our confidence because we still have a chance to qualify for Caf (Champions League). So, we needed this win.
“What I would like to say to our fans is that they should continue supporting us and we will always keep on pushing. It doesn’t when we lose we do it on purpose.
“But, their support is very important, like today (Tuesday), they pushed us even though it was difficult for us, but just kept on pushing.”
