Klate Leaves Pirates For SuperSport Return
Daine Klate has completed his expected return to SuperSport
United. The 29-year-old winger spent five trophy-laden years with
the Buccaneers, but returns to the club where he made his name. Pirates have
also since announced the deal on their website. Klate joins on an initial
six-month loan, after which a long-term deal will be discussed. Returning
SuperSport United midfielder Daine Klate faces another “three to five weeks” on
the sidelines while he recovers from an abdominal muscle tear which he suffered
in the first week after returning to pre-season training at Orlando Pirates in
January. The 29-year-old has revealed that he will only return to action
towards the end of February, while he is currently attending treatment sessions
with the physiotherapist. Matsatsansta snapped up no less than six players
during the January transfer window, with a number of them signing
pre-contracts, and a press conference was held to unveil their most recent
acquisitions including Ayabulela Magqwaka, Mothusi Gopane and Luvolwethu Mpeta.
SuperSport United
coach Gordon Igesund has revealed that midfielder Dove Wome will definitely
stay at the club once his loan deal comes to an end in June. Wome joined
Matsatsantsa a Pitori on a one-year loan deal during the winter transfer window
last year, but Igesund has now revealed that a clause in the Togolese
attacker’s contract allows for United to keep him permanently once they pay an
agreed fee. However, Igesund admitted that the club are yet to send formal
notification to The Brazilians to confirm their purchase of the player, but
insisted that he would definitely be staying at the Atteridgeville-based side.
Orlando Pirates have confirmed the signings of Platinum Stars
duo Tshepo Gumede and Siyabonga Mpontshane, with Tlou Segolela going the other
way. There was reported Gumede interest for some time now, with the
player having turned down Dikwena’s offers of a contract extension. Mpontshane
joins as Pirates look to strengthen their goalkeeping department following the
tragic death of Senzo Meyiwa late last year. Segolela now moves to Stars,
having been frustrated in his efforts for game-time in recent months. Also
moving to Stars on loan as part of the deal is defender Gladwin Shitolo.
Amajimbos have
regrouped for their final preparations ahead of the 2015 CAF U17 African Youth
Championships in Niger this month. The tournament will be played from 15
February to 1 March. In their final warm-up game, the national U17 team will
play a friendly match against SAFA Port Elizabeth on Thursday, 5 February at
Isaac Wolfson Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 15h00. Amajimbos coach Molefi
Ntseki said he expected a good crowd to come and watch the future stars in
action. He requested schools and the general public to turn up for this
high-tempo farewell game. There are two changes to the 22-man squad enforced by
the injury sustained by Thulani Dhladhla, who has been replaced by Riyaaz
Ismali from Hellenic FC while Katlego Mtwisha has been replaced by striker
Kobanelo Kodisang from the Platinum Stars Academy. South Africa are in Group B
with Ivory Coast, Mali and Cameroon while Group A consists of hosts Niger,
Guinea, Nigeria and Zambia.
National First Division club Witbank
Spurs have signed Zimbabwe international Peter ‘Rio’ Moyo, pending the issuing
of his work permit. Moyo was initially signed by Mpumalanga Black Aces in
June last year, but the deal was then terminated under unclear circumstances
leading to his move to Spurs. Spurs have now confirmed that the 26-year-old,
who impressed during the African Nations Championships last year, will join
once his papers have been finalised, having made a good impression while
training with the club late last year. The NFD outfit has already filed the
midfielder’s papers with the League and are now merely awaiting the issuing of
his work permit before he becomes eligible for selection.
Mamelodi Sundowns defender Emmanuel Mathias will remain attached to ZESCO
United for another year, with the Zambian champions keen to hold onto him.
The Togolese centre-back has spent the past year on loan to ZESCO and that
arrangement is expected to be extended again this year as there is still no
space for him at Chloorkop. Mathias has never played for Sundowns since signing
in June 2013 and his contract with the Brazilians expires in June, though he
has an option of a further year.
Moroka Swallows have confirmed the
signing of former Kaizer Chiefs striker Edwin Sitayitayi from Santos. The
22-year-old has scored three goals in six NFD starts for the People’s Team this
season. Sitayitayi is a Swallows academy graduate and was set to become a free
agent at the end of the season. Mamelodi
Sundowns winger Luyolo Nomandela also joined the club on loan during the
January transfer window.
NFD side Golden Arrows have confirmed
the arrival of Helder Pelembe, who has joined the club from Orlando Pirates. Arrows
spokesperson Vusimuzi Vilakazi confirms that Abafana Bes’thende snapped up the
Mozambican striker on a loan deal before the close of the transfer window on
Friday. Pelembe made just three
substitute appearances for Bucs this season leading to reports that he could be
offloaded. Arrows are currently
second behind Jomo Cosmos on the NFD log, with Jomo Sono’s men leading with 32
points after 16 games while Arrows have 30 points from the same number of
matches.
Bafana Bafana head
coach Shakes Mashaba has the full backing of SAFA after the team was knocked
out in the first round of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.Mashaba’s boys finished bottom of Group C with
one point from three matches, but executive member Ria Ledwaba, who acted as
Head of Delegation in Equatorial Guinea, says SAFA sees light at the end of the
tunnel for Mashaba and his boys.
Golden Arrows have
secured the services of Orlando Pirates midfielder Siphesihle Sangweni. Sangweni
has been one of the standout players during the MultiChoice Diski Challenge,
but has now joined Abafana Besithende on a six-month loan. Pirates’ head of
development Augusto Palacios confirms Sangweni’s move.
Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Lebohang
Mokoena has confirmed that the club has yet to open contract talks with him as
he enters the last six months of his contract. The former Orlando Pirates
man helped Bafana Ba Style progress to the semi-finals of the MultiChoice Diski
Challenge on Sunday where his side won 2-0 against Polokwane City. The 28 year
old spent seven years at Parktown , yet denied a possible return to his former
club after rumours he was talking to the Pirates chairman, Irvin Khoza. Mokoena
insists he is fully fit now and raring to go and he is looking forward of getting
more runs in the second half of the season with so many games to contest as the
League resumes next week.
University of Pretoria have added to their roster with the
signing of Bennett Chenene. The winger joins on loan from SuperSport
United, where he has struggled since Gordon Igesund took over from Cavin
Johnson. Chenene previously played for AmaZulu, Orlando Pirates and Moroka
Swallows.
Bidvest Wits have
sent Toriq Losper back to Ajax Cape Town. The 22-year-old joined the
Students on a loan deal that saw Robin Ngalande head in the opposite direction.
However, he has seen precious little game-time, starting five games in the Absa
Premiership.
AmaZulu have
terminated Tapuwa Kapini’s contract, freeing him to join another club. The
Zimbabwean goalkeeper is now a free agent and will hope to win a deal with
another Absa Premiership club. Usuthu handed the 30-year-old his clearance
following the signing of another Zimbabwean keeper, Energy Murambadoro from
Mpumalanga Black Aces. Kapini – who holds South African permanent residency –
still had six months remaining on his contract. There was strong interest in
Kapini from one PSL club, while at least at least one First Division club has
also shown interest.
Mpumalanga Black Aces have added former
AmaZulu striker Siyabonga Vilane to their squad. Vilane, who parted ways
with Usuthu halfway through the 2012/13 season, has been plying his trade in
Thailand for RBAC for whom he scored 15 goals in 20 matches before expressing
his desire to return home. He also played for African Warriors.
Ajax Cape Town
have completed the signing of Erwin Isaacs on loan. The 28-year-old
former Santos winger has been battling for game-time at Bidvest Wits, but will
be hopeful of seeing plenty of action during his loan until the end of the
season. “We desperately needed to add some firepower up-front and we are
confident that Erwin, together with Toriq Losper, will add exactly what we
missed in the first half of the season,” Ajax boss Ari Efstathiou told the
club’s official website.
Bryce Moon has completed his loan move
from Mamelodi Sundowns to Platinum Stars. The former Bafana Bafana
right-back has battled for game-time at Chloorkop, and is yet to start a League
game for the Brazilians this season. The 28-year-old now moves to Rustenburg,
where he links up with Sundowns teammate Punch Masenamela, who completed his
switch to Dikwena earlier this week.
Bhongolethu Jayiya will remain at
Mpumalanga Black Aces after failing a medical with Maritzburg United. The
midfielder was in KZN to put the final touches on his return to the club.
However, Aces announced that the deal has fallen through. Aces have also
announced the signing on Dino Ndlovu on loan from SuperSport United, as well as
the release of Thabang Rooi and Mabhuto Khenyeza to Golden Arrows.
Ayabulela Magqwaka has signed a
six-month loan deal with SuperSport United, with an option to buy at the end of
the season. The national Under-20 defender joins from Ajax Cape Town, where
he fell out with management and was relegated to the sidelines. A deal was
imminent and the player’s agent, Vasili Barbis, tells this website that al has
now been sorted.“I’m sitting right next to the player as we speak. He has
signed a six-month loan deal with an option to buy by the end of the season,”
Barbis says.
Former Bafana
Bafana striker Dino Ndlovu has joined Mpumalanga Black Aces on loan.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic man is still on the books of Israeli club
Maccabi Haifa, but spent the first half of the season on loan at SuperSport
United. He will now see out the 2014/15 campaign at Black Aces, where he will
compete for a starting spot with the likes of Collins Mbesuma and Tendai Ndoro.
Aces recently parted ways with Mabhuti Khenyeza, who has moved back to his
former club Golden Arrows.
Mpumalanga Black Aces goalkeeper Energy
Murambadoro has completed a loan move to AmaZulu for the rest of the season in
a bid to help the battling Durban-based side. The loan deal that
Murambadoro has agreed to has an option of a further year if his six-month stay
works out well for both parties. Benjamin Nkhatho, the player’s manager
confirms that the deal is sealed. Though the Zimbabwean keeper is moving he has
played the most games of all goalkeepers at Aces this season, with 12 starts to
his name already in all competitions. Murambadoro joined Aces last season but
only started playing this season and, prior to his return to action this
season, he had endured a lengthy spell without playing having last featured for
Bidvest Wits during the 2011-12 season.
Ajax Cape Town trio Dominic Isaacs,
Lance Davids and Nazeer Allie are all set to make imminent returns from injury
and should be fully fit when the league resumes. Experienced defender
Dominic Isaacs, who has missed a large portion of the season due to a hamstring
injury, is expected to return soon after suffering a minor set-back, while
injured duo Lance Davids and Nazeer Allie are also on the mend. Following
friendly encounters against European opponents PEC Zwolle and VfL Wolfsburg
earlier this month, the Urban Warriors have been keeping match fit with a
number of friendlies against local opposition, including Vasco Da Gama, Milano
United, Cape Town All Stars and Santos. De Sa feels these matches have been
important for his side’s preparations for the second half of the season, having
been able to try out various combinations and tactics.
Zambian defender Davies Nkausu has
completed a six-month loan move to his former club University of Pretoria after
spending a year with Bloemfontein Celtic. Nkausu will rejoin AmaTuks, the
first club that he played for in South Africa. The 29-year-old joined Celtic at
the start of last year on a three-and-a-half-year deal from SuperSport United,
and though he played 18 games during the second half of last season, he has
only started three games this season.
Wayne Sandilands will not get his
desired move away from Mamelodi Sundowns during the January transfer window.
The 31-year-old goalkeeper has made no secret of his desire to leave Chloorkop
after being frustrated in his efforts for game-time. However, Sundowns have
included him in their CAF Champions League squad and want him to remain at the
club.
Orlando Pirates have announced the
signing of Mpho Mvelase from Chippa United. The 25-year-old defender joins
on a three-year-deal. “I am delighted to
have made my move to Orlando Pirates. This is an opportunity I will grab with
both hands and make the best of it,” he tells the club’s official website. The
Buccaneers yesterday added Siyabonga Mpontshane and Tshepo Gumede to their
roster.
Portuguese media report that Vitoria Guimaraes have
signed South Africa Under-20 international Haashim Domingo. The
19-year-old midfielder has reportedly signed a three-and-a-half year deal with
the Primera club, who are fourth in the standings, 11 points behind leaders
Benfica. Domingo was previously on the books of Ajax Cape Town, but the PSL
granted him his clearance in November last year after a dispute between club
and player. The player had previously
trained and was linked with a move to Ajax Amsterdam.
Platinum Stars have completed the
signing of Masibuzane Zongo. The former SuperSport United midfielder has
signed a six-month contract with Dikwena. Stars chairman Ratanang Nke confirms
the signing, saying: “Those who watched our friendly against Polokwane City
will tell you that the boy is pure class. He is quality. Zongo was released by
Chippa United in November after he completed a rehabilitation course for
alcohol abuse.
SuperSport United have completed the
signing of Mothusi Gopane from Polokwane City a week after it emerged that he
had signed a pre-contract with the former League champions. Gopane (22) has
been out of favour at Polokwane, starting only the first two games this season
which ignited his desire to leave. General manager at Polokwane Costa Bellos
confirms that Gopane is now a SuperSport player.
Banyana Banyana boss
Vera Pauw has been handed a new contract by Safa. Pauw was appointed as the
Banyana coach in March last year and led the team to a fourth-place finish at
the recent Africa Women’s Championship held in Namibia, falling just short of
qualifying for the Fifa Women’s World Cup.
And Safa have decided to keep faith with the Dutch manager, handing her a
new contract which extends her stay at the helm of the South African women’s
team. Details of the contract are
yet to be disclosed. Pauw’s
immediate task will be to lead Banyana to the 2016 Olympics in Rio, Brazil,
with the qualifiers scheduled to start in May.
Mamelodi Sundowns defender Punch
Masenamela has joined Platinum Stars. The Brazilians have agreed a loan
deal with Dikwena for the rest of the season. “Platinum Stars are taking
over his package as it is,” says the player’s agent Jazzman Mahlakgane.
Masenamela takes over the left-back position at Stars from Luvolwethu Mpeta who
has joined SuperSport United. Mpeta had signed a pre-contract to join
SuperSport in July, but the two clubs have agreed an immediate transfer.
Masenamela’s contract with Sundowns expires at the end of June and after the
loan spell, the defender is likely to stay on at Stars with the two parties
currently negotiating a long term deal.
Orlando Pirates are set to loan out
defender Gladwin Shitolo and midfielder Kamohelo Mabuya in the current transfer
window. The pair are yet to play for Pirates in a competitive game after
signing from Jomo Cosmos and African Warriors respectively in August last year. Shitolo has attracted interest from
Platinum Stars and Polokwane City, while Mabuya may be heading to NFD title
contenders Golden Arrows, according to a Bucs official.

Tshabalala has signed a new three-year contract with the club. Amakhosi
confirmed the news via Twitter in a message which said: “Siphiwe
Tshabalala @siphiweshabba has signed a new 3 year contract with the Club.”
Tshabalala, whose previous deal was expiring in June, has played the most
number of games for the Soweto giants of the current squad. The 30-year-old has
represented Chiefs 242 times since his arrival from Free State Stars in 2007.
‘Shabba’ is followed by Itumeleng Khune with 216 appearances in the black and
gold.
Mamelodi Sundowns
midfielder Luyolo Nomandela has joined Moroka Swallows on loan until the end of
the season. The 25-year-old has opted for the Dube Birds, having also been
linked with a move to Absa Premiership strugglers AmaZulu. Nomandela initially signed with Sundowns from Free State Stars at
the beginning of the campaign. However, he found it hard to break into the team
at Chloorkop, making just two League appearances.

at home by Gent. Lokeren had to come from behind three times to secure the
point.
THULANI SERERO

1-0 at Vitesse, lacking the midfield guile of the Bafana Bafana discard.
