Lars Veldwijk says he remains available for selection for Bafana after being overlooked by current head coach Hugo Broos.
The 30-year-old striker has played seven times for the national team but is yet to register a goal.
It has been nearly three years since he won his last cap but has been prolific in front of goal this past year and ended 2021 with the most goals scored of any South African.
Veldwijk scored 18 goals and registered six assists in the South Korean K League 1 for Suwon FC.
The Dutch-born striker last played for Bafana in the quarter-final defeat to Nigeria at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, as a late substitute.
Veldwijk told KickOff: “For me, every time I was called up, even at the Africa Cup of Nations, I didn’t get the game time that a striker needs.
“I can’t show people what I can do with that. I’ve earned seven caps for South Africa, but it doesn’t feel like seven. It was always such a short time on the pitch and that makes it difficult to prove to be people that I can be helpful to the team.”
Veldwijk added: “I haven’t had contact with anyone from SAFA or the new coach, which is a bit disappointing. But I will be available until the day I retire, and I will never retire from international football until the day I retire from professional football altogether.”
