La Liga: Game Week 35 Preview

Girona booked their place in next season’s Champions League for the first time and wrapped up the La Liga title for Real Madrid by coming from behind to beat Barcelona in a pulsating Catalan derby. Real Madrid was crowned champions of La Liga for the 36th time with England midfielder Jude Bellingham scoring 18 goals in 26 La Liga games in his first season with the club. The 14-time European Cup winners face Bayern Munich at the Bernabeu on Wednesday in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final, before taking aim at Granada. Elsewhere, Barca and Atletico will look to make the most of their home ties with Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo respectively. All that and more in this weekend’s preview!

Friday 10 May

26/10 Alaves | Draw 26/10 | Girona 9/10 (21:00)

Artem Dovbyk starred in Girona’s comeback against Barcelona last time out. The Girona man has 20 topflight goals in La Liga this season and puts him two clear of Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham in the race for the Pichichi Trophy awarded to the top scorer.

Back the away side on the win here and over 3.5 goals at 42/10.

Saturday 11 May

7/10 Mallorca | Draw 47/20 | Las Palmas 44/10 (14:00)

Real Sociedad condemned Las Palmas to their eighth league defeat from their previous ten top-flight fixtures. Since the turn of the year, Los Amarillos have taken just twelve points – only Cadiz has taken fewer from all topflight clubs.

I expect the home side to claim maximum points here. Back Mallorca on the win and BTTS (yes) at 42/10.

9/10 Villarreal | Draw 28/10 | Sevilla 51/20 (16:15)

It seems like Quique Sanches Flores can do no wrong at the moment. His Sevilla side are undefeated across their previous five league outings and have climbed to twelfth on the log, just two points off the top half.

Back Sevilla on the win and under 3.5 goals at 42/10.

46/10 Granada | Draw 7/2 | Real Madrid 5/10 (18:30)

Los Blancos have lost just one league game this season and could potentially finish the campaign with 99 points, which would be their second-highest total ever. It is Ancelotti’s second La Liga title as Real coach, having previously won it in 2021-22.

All signs point to a win for Real Madrid and over 3.5 goals at 24/10.

9/20 Athletic Club | Draw 32/10 | Osasuna 56/10 (21:00)

Athletic Club will try to keep pace with fourth-placed Atletico Madrid until the end of the season. The Bilbao side are currently in fifth place, chasing that illusive Champions League spot. I think they get over the line in this one and condemn Osasuna to their fifth straight league loss.

Back the home side on the win and over 4.5 goals at 13/2.

Sunday 12 May

9/10 Cadiz | Draw 22/10 | Getafe 33/10 (14:00)

With just a single win across their previous five league outings, José Jiménez needs to put some much-needed points on the board. Last time out, his Getafe outfit dominated their tie with Athletic Club, but could not find the back of the net. I think it’s a different story this week!

Back the away side here and over 2.5 goals at 17/2.

9/20 Atletico Madrid | Draw 36/10 | Celta Vigo 52/10 (16:15)

Atletico Madrid put some much-needed distance between themselves and fifth-placed Athletic Club with a 1-nil victory over Mallorca last time out. Indeed, that was just their sixth away league win, from seventeen attempts. I think they stamp their authority on home soil here.

Back Atleti on the win and over 3.5 goals at 9/4.

27/20 Valencia | Draw 2/1 | Rayo Vallecano 22/10 (18:30)

Three straight league defeats have seen Valencia move out of the European places. A fixture at the Mestalla against a bottom-half Rayo Vallecano side may just be what Ruben Baraja & Co need.

Back Valencia on the double chance and BTTS (yes) at 31/20.

7/20 Real Betis | Draw 39/10 | Almeria 13/2 (21:00)

After four straight league defeats, Manuel Pellegrini has steadied the ship and Real Betis appear to be in calmer waters. Los Verdiblancos are unbeaten in their previous four top-flight fixtures, and I think they make it five on the bounce as they look to secure a lucrative European spot.

Back Real Betis on the win and over 3.5 goals at 37/20.

Monday 13 May

17/20 Barcelona | Draw 51/20 | Real Sociedad 31/10 (21:00)

Real Madrid was crowned champions after Barca’s defeat at Girona, last time out. On home soil, I back Xavi’s men to flex their muscles against a Real Sociedad side who have kept just a single clean sheet across their previous five away league outings.

Back the home side on the win and over 3.5 goals at 44/10.
