Khuliso Mudau says it helps to have a large number of Mamelodi Sundowns players in the Bafana squad at AFCON.
South Africa boss Hugo Broos selected 10 players from the DStv Premiership champions, all with vast experience of playing at the highest level.
As Bafana prepare to face Mali in their opening Africa Cup of Nations clash at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium on Tuesday, Mudau explained that their quality, combined with experience will help them progress in the competition.
Mudau, who was a part of the Sundowns team that won the inaugural African Football League title last year, said in the Citizen: “It won’t be an easy group to get out of, but I think we have quality in the squad with players who are young and hungry.
“We want to make sure that we write history together.”
Mudau added: “I think it will help us a lot to have players who play in the Champions League.
“You can’t compare it with the local league because the intensity is not the same. So I think it’s going to help us a lot.
“We have been playing together for quite a while now as a team and I am just grateful to be here and want to showcase my talent.”
