Khanyisa Mayo signs for Algerian side CR Belouizdad

The 25-year-old South African forward has secured a three-year contract with the Algerian outfit.

Mayo, who has been a key player for the Citizens over the past four years, emerged as the team’s top scorer for the last two seasons.

His journey with Cape Town City began in July 2021 after transferring from Richards Bay FC.

During his tenure, Mayo has made a notable impact, sharing the 2022/23 Premiership top scorer title with Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile.

Mayo’s transfer marks him as the second South African player to venture into North African football this season, following Elias Mokwana’s move to Tunisian giants Esperance.

This trend highlights the growing interest in South African talent from North African clubs.

Mayo’s signing not only underscores his personal achievements but also the increasing recognition of South African players on the international stage.
