Orlando Pirates’ coach Jose Riveiro showered praise on the talented attacking midfielder, Karim Kimvuidi, after their recent triumph in the DStv Premiership.
The Buccaneers clinched a 1-0 victory against TS Galaxy at Orlando Stadium, with Deon Hotto finding the net in the first half.
The game took an unexpected turn for Pirates when Vincent Pule suffered an injury, leading to an early substitution. Enter Kimvuidi, whose impact proved pivotal for the home side. While Hotto claimed the Man of the Match accolade, it was Kimvuidi who stole the spotlight, earning applause from the passionate Buccaneer Faithful.
In a post-match press conference, coach Riveiro expressed his admiration for the 21-year-old midfielder, emphasizing the need for Kimvuidi to evolve into a more complete football player. Riveiro highlighted Kimvuidi’s influence on the pitch, stating, “What you see (Kimvuidi’s influence), everyone can see. These types of players, like Karim, do something we all love as football fans.”
Acknowledging the potential within Kimvuidi, Riveiro outlined the coaching staff’s efforts to enhance his overall game. “Talented players like him need to be competitive in every aspect. We are trying to help him be more complete because he has all the conditions to be an exceptional player,” Riveiro explained. “It’s a question of time, and I’m 100% sure it’s going to happen.”
Riveiro also commended Kimvuidi’s character off the pitch, describing him as a “lovely guy” who seamlessly integrates himself into a group of talented players. “He is a humble guy who wants to push and keep his progression in football,” Riveiro added.
The victory catapulted the Soweto giants to fifth place on the DStv Premiership table, marking their sixth win in 13 matches and their third triumph in the last five league outings. As the team continue to climb the ranks, the spotlight remains on Kimvuidi, whose emerging brilliance promises an exciting future for Orlando Pirates.
