Kaizer Chiefs could sign their second Zimbabwean player in the space of two weeks, with reports suggesting that Tanaka Chinyahara, who is undergoing trials at Amakhosi, could join fellow countryman, Teenage Hadebe.
Zimbabwe have an abundance of talent, and it’s no surprise that their players have thrived in the ABSA Premiership. What has worried the Amakhosi faithful, is that Bobby Motaung hasn’t been selecting the best Zim players, opting to go for free agents on many occasions.
They have had some success with the likes of Tinashe Nengomasha, Knowledge Musona and midfield powerhouse, Willard Katsande. However, it doesn’t make up for the numbers they have failed with.
Edmore Chirambadare and Michelle Katsvairo were the most recent Zimbabwean failures at Kaizer Chiefs. Chirambadare featured 18 times in Chiefs’ colours – six times more than Katsvairo – but the duo only managed to score twice between them, with both goals coming from the latter.
It’s highly unlikely that they could strike a deal with their Sowetan rivals, Orlando Pirates, to sign Tendai Ndoro, but there are plenty other options they could pursue. Kudakwashe Mahachi, who has been on Mr. Motaung’s radar for a while now, could prove to be a decent signing for Chiefs – more importantly, he would be free after Golden Arrows reportedly released him.
Other than Mahachi, Maritzburg United striker, Evans Rusike, could be the only other Zimbabwean attacking option worthy of donning the Chiefs jersey.
