Kaizer Chiefs v Richards Bay: Kick-off time, betting odds, players to watch & more!

After a promising start with back to back league victories, Chiefs have since faltered, managing only one point in their last three Betway Premiership matches.

The hosts welcome a relegation-threatened Richards Bay outfit in a vital clash at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Month long hiatus

Kaizer Chiefs will be aiming to turn their fortunes around when they take to the pitch almost a month after their 4 nil drubbing by the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling Knockout. During an interview with SuperSport TV after that game, the Chiefs boss apologised to the Amakhosi faithful before promising to improve.

“I would like to apologise to the supporters of Kaizer Chiefs for today. I am sorry,” he said. “Nothing worked today. From the back line to the last line. We tried to fight. Tough lesson. We need to lift our players again. Back to the training pitch,” Nabi concluded.

Indeed, the honeymoon phase is well and truly over and the pressure is on Nabi to deliver results. Following consecutive defeats in the league, Mduduzi Shabalala’s last gasp brace against Magesi saved the Tunisian tactician his bushes. With just a point from their last three topflight outings, Chiefs enter the pitch in the bottom half of the log and will need a positive result to avoid slipping further.

Player Spotlight

Despite a positive start to the season, Chiefs now face themselves with a clash that could prove pivotal for the remainder of their topflight campaign. Following the public backing of his manager and support staff, I back Ranga Chivaviro to prove the difference.

The thirty-two year old has opened his account in the South African topflight this season, having found the back of the net in consecutive appearances back in September. The ex-Marumo Gallants man has shown that he is capable of leading the line and with a pair of home fixtures against favorable opposition, I think he fires Chiefs into the top half of the log!

How to watch

The match is scheduled to kick-off at 19:30 on Wednesday, 27 November and will be carried live on the public broadcaster’s radio stations for commentary. The match will be broadcast live on SuperSport channel 202 and can also be streamed on Showmax.

New Peter Mokaba Stadium

The 46 000 seater stadium will host the clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Richards Bay. The Polokwane based stadium is expected to be filled to the rafters, as was the case when Chiefs ran riot over SuperSport United earlier this season. The stadium is one of five new stadiums that were built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and hosted four Group matches during the tournament of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

To win (90 min)

Kaizer Chiefs 8/10 | Draw 47/20 | Richards Bay  34/10

With the pressure mounting, I expect Nabi to roll up his sleeves and cook up a storm here. We tip Chiefs on the win and over 2.5 goals at 22/10.
