The Buccaneers forward is currently on loan at Stellenbosch under coach Gavin Hunt, where he has earned praise for his performances since arriving at the club.

According to Phakaaathi, the 29-year-old is not expected to be part of Pirates’ plans next season, with his contract set to expire at the end of the current campaign. This has opened the door for Amakhosi, who are believed to be preparing a move to bring him to Naturena as a free agent.

“Chiefs have made Mabasa their number one target for the off-season transfer window. And from what I have heard, they are leading the race for his signature,” a source told the publication.

Despite Chiefs’ reported interest, they are unlikely to have a clear path to securing Mabasa’s services.

The striker is also attracting attention from fellow Betway Premiership sides Stellenbosch and AmaZulu, as well as Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

Meanwhile, Hunt’s admiration for Mabasa could play a significant role in the player’s next move.

Reports suggest that Stellenbosch may look to secure his services on a permanent deal as they aim to build on their current squad ahead of the new season.

With multiple clubs circling, Mabasa’s future remains uncertain, but his next move is expected to be one of the key transfer stories in the upcoming window.
