KAIZER CHIEFS’ THATAYAONE DITLHOKWE STRESSES THE IMPORTANCE OF WINNING AGAINST CAPE TOWN SPURS

Kaizer Chiefs defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe has underlined the importance of securing a win against Cape Town Spurs on Saturday.

Amakhosi head into the final game of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season in eighth place with 36 points.

They are unable to move up the standings, with Cape Town City six points better off, but are in danger of being caught by a number of teams in the race for a top-eight finish.

AmaZulu and Polokwane City are also both on 36 points, while Golden Arrows have 35 and Chippa United sit with 34 points from 29 games.

It will be a massive boost for Chiefs to end their campaign on a high ahead of a new, but as yet unannounced, management team that are set to take over from next season.

Ditlhokwe naturally feels that his team should beat the already relegated Spurs, but nevertheless also warned against complacency.

He said on the club’s website: “This last game is still very important and we are preparing very seriously in order to solidify our spot in the top eight.

“They may already be relegated but that can make them dangerous because they have nothing to lose, and we have a lot to lose.

“There is a chance of the other teams on the same points overtaking us, which is why we are focused first and foremost on winning against Spurs, and hopefully scoring a few goals.”
