Amakhosi head into the encounter in red-hot form, chasing a fifth consecutive league victory after a 2-0 win over TS Galaxy at the FNB Stadium on Sunday.
The recent surge marks a significant turnaround for Chiefs, who had endured a difficult spell with defeats to Stellenbosch FC, Orlando Pirates and Richards Bay FC. Co-coach Cedric Kaze has this week attributed the improvement largely to a more settled line-up following the return of key players from injury, which has increased competition and consistency within the squad.
“The consistency in the recent results comes from the consistency in performances and the consistency in the line-up,” said Kaze. “Before, injuries made it difficult to keep the same team, but now the competition is helping everyone push in the same direction.”
Chiefs will take confidence from their recent meeting with Magesi, having claimed a comfortable 2-0 win in the reverse fixture just three weeks ago – a result that kickstarted their current four-match winning run.

In contrast, Magesi find themselves under mounting pressure at the foot of the table. The Limpopo-based side have struggled for consistency, collecting just six points from their last nine matches, and come into this clash on the back of a late 1-0 defeat to Sekhukhune United.
With survival at stake, Magesi will be desperate to avoid another setback, especially at home, where they will hope to frustrate a confident Chiefs outfit.
While Chiefs remain outsiders in the title race behind Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, their focus is firmly on securing a top-three finish and a return to continental competition.
All signs point to Chiefs entering the clash as favourites, but with Magesi fighting to keep their Premiership status, the encounter in Polokwane could prove more competitive than the standings suggest.
