Kaizer Chiefs release veteran striker Bernard Parker after 11-year stay

Bernard Parker will leave Kaizer Chiefs when his contract expires at the end of June, ending an 11-year star at the Soweto giants.

Amakhosi have now released a total of nine players as they look to revamp their squad ahead of next season under head coach Arthur Zwane.
The 36-year-old Parker joins Samir Nurkovic, Lazarous Kambole, Lebogang Manyama, Daniel Cardoso, Leonardo Castro, Daniel Akpeyi, and Kearyn Baccus to exit the club.
Parker leaves as the club’s record goal-scorer in the PSL era, netting 62 times in 359 appearances since joining Amakhosi from Dutch side FC Twente in 2011.
The former Bafana Bafana forward won four major trophies with Chiefs, including two league titles, the Nedbank Cup and the MTN8.
Kaizer Chiefs said in a statement: “Kaizer Chiefs will sadly not renew Bernard Parker’s contract when it expires at the end of June 2022.

“His exceptional talent and leadership helped Amakhosi to win four major trophies, including two league titles. His professionalism, both on and off the field, is an object example to any aspiring young footballer.

“Thank you for your great service and dedication to the Club, ‘Hond’. You remain a true legend.”
Amakhosi have already signed Stellenbosch duo Zitha Kwinika, Ashley Du Preez while former Amazulu midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe has also joined ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
