Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly monitoring Congolese striker Agee Basiala Amongo closely, with intentions to make a move for him during the January transfer window.
KickOff reports that Chiefs’ scouts recently took notice of the 25-year-old forward from AS Maniema Union during his team’s CAF Champions League match against Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
Led by Chiefs’ talent scout Thembela Maliwa, the scouting team praised Agee’s standout performance. A source close to the club revealed that his impressive showing in the 1-1 draw made a lasting impact.
“The scouts were at Loftus Versfeld to watch him, and they were very impressed with what they saw,” the source revealed. “He’s now on Chiefs’ radar, and he could be a target when the transfer window reopens in January.”
The Chiefs’ management is eager to enhance their attacking lineup, viewing Agee, who already has experience in continental competitions, as a valuable addition.
Should the deal go through, Agee would link up with fellow Congolese striker Christian Saile Basomboli at Naturena, offering greater depth to the team’s forward options.
With room available for foreign signings, the Chiefs are focused on reinforcing their squad for the second half of the season, and Agee’s potential signing is stirring considerable anticipation.
