Kaizer Chiefs have continued to reshape their squad ahead of the new Premiership season by completing the signing of Tanzanian midfielder Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko from Azam FC.
The 27-year-old defensive midfielder joins the Soweto club for an undisclosed fee after negotiations between the two sides, becoming Chiefs’ third arrival of the transfer window. They have already added defender Thabo Moloisane and goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner to their mix.
Chiefs confirmed the move in a statement, welcoming Bitegeko to Naturena and highlighting the experience he brings to the squad.
Bitegeko captained Azam FC and becomes the first Tanzanian player to wear the famous gold and black jersey. His arrival also adds another nation to the long list of African countries represented by players at the club over the years.

The midfielder returns to southern Africa after spending six seasons in Europe, where he featured in Iceland, Norway and Finland before rejoining Azam in 2024. He helped the Tanzanian club secure a third-place finish in the domestic league last season and has also established himself in the national setup, earning five senior caps while serving as vice-captain of Tanzania.
Chiefs have made strengthening the spine of the team a priority following an inconsistent campaign, and Bitegeko’s arrival is expected to add leadership, physicality and defensive discipline in midfield.
With pre-season preparations well under way, the Glamour Boys are steadily assembling a squad they hope can challenge for honours when the new campaign begins, with further additions still expected before the transfer window closes.
