Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson was left unhappy and hinted at wholesale changes after his side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Stellenbosch at FNB stadium on Tuesday night.
AmaKhosi’s underwhelming performances continued at the hands of Stellies as they were humbled by coach Steve Barker’s side who sit second on the DStv Premiership table, four points clear of Sekhukhune in third.
The Glamour Boys have only managed to get one victory so far in the year 2024 across all competitions.
Johnson was left frustrated after his side suffered another underwhelming result since the beginning of 2024.
The Soweto giants are currently in seventh place in the log with eight games to go with a tally of 30 points.
“The performance we put on tonight was not even half of the performance we put on Saturday,” said Johnson.
“We must go back, try again and put different players on the pitch, and let’s see what happens. But in saying that we didn’t get it right.
“I’m not happy with the performance from lots of the players but we have to fix them up.
“We have to come back, and we have another game on Saturday against Chippa, we have to try our best, we need the points more than any other team in the PSL,” the 65-year-old tactician explained.
Johnson went further to say his side needs to play a bit more technically as that’s where they must improve.
“The players need to play more of a technical, they need to be better technically, and we have to pass the ball better.
“I don’t think there are times where we passed the ball better, we not looking like we can pass the ball, and when we go 1-0 down, we got 45 minutes to come back.
“Be the confidence you are, be the Kaizer Chiefs you are, and play proper football,” he concluded.
The Soweto giants will travel to Buffalo City Municipality Stadium to face relegation zone-threatened Chippa United on Saturday.
Kick-off is 15:00.
