Jose Riveiro Confident Carlos Nodar Paz will be instrumental in Pirates’ success

Orlando Pirates have confirmed the addition of Carlos Nodar Paz to their strength and conditioning department ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Head coach Jose Riveiro, who previously worked with Nodar Paz at Celta de Vigo, shared the news during a press conference, highlighting the importance of the appointment as the Buccaneers prepare for their upcoming CAF Champions League tie.

Nodar Paz brings a wealth of experience, having worked in various high-profile roles.

After his tenure with Riveiro at Celta de Vigo from 2010 to 2014, he expanded his expertise with stints in Asia, contributing to the success of East Bengal in India and Wuhan Three Towns in China.

His most recent position was with the 2022 Chinese Super League champions, where he served as both Physical coach and assistant.

Riveiro expressed confidence in Nodar Paz’s abilities, stating, “Carlos is a guy that I’ve known for a long time. He has a lot of expertise and capacities.”

He also clarified that while Nodar Paz is primarily part of the Strength and Conditioning department, he is also providing support in the physiotherapy area.

Pirates are now focused on their crucial CAF Champions League first preliminary round second leg against Disciples from Madagascar.

After a goalless draw in the first leg, the Buccaneers are aiming for a decisive home victory at Orlando Stadium on Friday to advance in the competition.
