Itumeleng Khune admits to being impressed by Jose Riveiro following their success in the Carling All Star clash.
The suspended Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper captained the All Stars side, coached by Riveiro, to a 2-1 victory over Steve Barker’s Stellenbosch team.
Riveiro, who has made a name for himself as something as a cup specialist with Orlando Pirates, led his team at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, where goals from Mfundo Vilakazi (4′) and Ashley du Preez (12′ Pen) settled the tie.
Mervin Boji (90+3′) netted a late consolation for the Carling Knockout Cup winners.
Khune was named Man of the Match for his performance, and after the tie, he told iDiski Times: “I think the results and the performance today gives you answers of how he is as a coach and since he’s been in the country.
“He’s been here for two seasons and won three cups already for his club.”
Khune added: “It gives you the sense he’s a great coach, the fact that his club went all the way to [Europe] to get him, they believe in him.
“The same as the fans here at home, they voted for him amongst the 16 other coaches, so it shows the quality as a coach, how dedicated he is to the game and his winning mentality.”
